I am so glad that the post was timely and appropriate for your day! It's great that all the old posts are available to read, and that something written a while ago is helpful today - thanks for stopping in and thanks for sharing your story with me. It's great to see how you handled the situation!

I am still catching up on the blog and read this one today. How fitting; I almost let myself become the consummate complainer at work today. I was having trouble focussing in a meeting because I was rehashing the past and justifying to myself my right to be annoyed. Well, luckily I got tired of myself and actually sat down with the person I was struggling with to hash it out. We had a very open conversation about my issues with our roles and understanding the line between her responsibilities and mine. Ultimately we both want to make it work and talking directly to the source about it helped me to get on with it.

Though I'm behind in my reading, it turned out to be very timely for me today.

Thanks!

Thank you, Hamish.
Leadership is not only about inspiration and motivation, but about facing and tackling the difficult tasks as well.

Excellent post! A true leader (formal or informal) must deal with complainers early before their stories take root in their organization's culture. Making a complainer part of the solution leaves no room for ambiguity.
